This Week in the Vagobond Community
It was a pretty interesting week for me personally. I’ve been doing a cleansing fast, so I haven’t eaten in seven days. Strange things happen when I fast - always. My old VW Van randomly had the power lock in the back hatch short out at 1 am and it started whirring and screaming! I went outside in my underwear to see what was up and my car was just going nuts. I disconnected the battery and got in the panel to disconnect it the next day. Then, two days later my daughter and I were playing a game of cribbage, which is one of our after school traditions - and it felt like a car hit my house. Going outside all the neighbors were also looking around. We assumed it was an earthquake but the USGS says no, military has said it wasn’t them, not a sonic boom, not a landslide and was felt for miles around! We don’t know what the heck it was!
On a more Vagobond related note - I finally completed the server moves and separation of Vagobond.com and Vagobond Magazine.com - which was like a dark cloud of molasses over my consciousness. The problem was that the Vagobond database (which goes back to 2001) was effing huge and I was unable to move it without getting errors. I finally sliced through the Gordian Knot of it all and now Vagobond.com is back to being my personal site with a focus on the projects and travels I am doing and Vagobond Magazine has become something much bigger and better - our site and the homebase for our community, though to be fair - I feel like the VM Discord server is really where the action is all at.
In terms of the VM Server - I’ve started clearing people out of the executive channels if they haven’t earned the right to be in them. We have a few -

Vagobond Magazine channel is for contributors and editors of VM only.
Council of Aiea is for those who hold a Holy Bjble and have verified it on the server.
OG Alpha is for those who hold one of my Rough Living NFTs and have verified on the server. If you don’t have one, you can buy them with ETH or with $BALDS in the server - but I finally realized that what we are providing in the alpha channels is valuable. I spend a lot of time searching and curating alpha - so I’m not going to give it away to those who don’t at least make the effort to get a copy of Rough Living - which can essentially be gotten with no cost but just some participation.
Intelligence Desk will remain as it is, but the channel is largely dormant right now.
As for the rest, there is still a public alpha channel (filled with good information this week on $BLUR and collab.land airdrops and more) and many other places, but the really good stuff happens behind closed doors now. All you have to do is open them.
The project and investment channels have feeds from the most important projects and people I follow in other servers. They are worth checking daily IMO. It saves me a huge amount of time by doing that myself.
Trippin w/ CD
This week, I started doing random spaces on Twitter called Trippin w/ CD. It was really fun. I’m going to keep doing it. If no one shows up, I just talk about what we are building with VM, $BALDS, BJ, and Baldism - or whatever. If people show up, we just converse and this week - it turned into a really fun interview with JD Armstrong, a community member who has legitimately been dead twice!

Free BJ Sunday
I just released a free BJ on the Bald Jesus Cent page (https://baldjesus.cent.co) . The fun part is that we used mid-journey in the VM server to create this art and now are giving it away for free. Enjoy!
The $BALDS Gallery
I want to create a gallery of NFT works that showcases the people who are doing things in ways that I feel drive the space forward. I want to promote their work, share their work, and give them credit. That’s what the $BALDS Gallery is all about.
Starting today — anyone who sends any NFT to The Balds Gallery (ETH Address: 0x4c9281cD0bB6102460fCc6256409817ef2227861) will be sent 1-Million $BALDS tokens which can be used within the Vagobond Magazine discord server to govern, transact, and have fun. The NFTs sent will be a part of the $BALDS Gallery and each month I will feature anywhere from 1–10 pieces in the $BALDS Gallery pages of Vagobond Magazine. My hope is that artists and writers will be sending their work. We will always have things that $BALDS can be traded for within the VM Discord and by doing it this way, you will get to choose what you want. There are currently around fifty pieces available for $BALDS but we expect that number to grow.
Additionally, in an effort to seed the $BALDS economy, we will be doing a series of incentivized $BALDS airdrops where community members will be dropped $BALDS tokens for stated actions each month. For the month of February 2023, I have created an open edition on Manifold that will be available until the end of February. In March, all holders will be dropped at least 1 million $BALDS tokens. The eth revenue from this open edition will be used to pay for gas on eth assets we sell for $BALDS tokens.

I want to state, as I’ve stated before, I don’t want anyone to take this too seriously. This isn’t a busines. This isn’t a profit seeking venture. This is a fun experiment in doing things differently. There is a reason we called our token $BALDS and a reason that we love creating new BaldSillyionaires with every new $BALDS airdrop. This is all just silly stuff — so feel free to have fun with it. That’s what I’m doing.
