I was reading the New York Times the other day and it wasn't terribly surprising to me to see that the last major downturn in real estate prices occurred right before and during the great depression. Think about it. The stock market is at a record high, investors are pulling their money (if they can) from slumping real estate and putting it into stocks. Of course, at the same time, incomprehensible amounts of money are being spent on wars that cannot be won, the dollar is losing value against just about every currency, and while you don't have to worry about a run on the banks, what you do have to worry about is the money you have becoming worthless....I think that makes alternative currency a pretty smart idea...don't you?
